I am human services student at ARC, my mother taught me to be a self-reliant young lady. I happen to have Cerebral Palsy, but do not appreciate handouts from the state; I was given three chances at my life. To waste that gift by sitting and pitting myself and my situation would be as disrespectful as someone denying an artificial limb to a soldier who just lost a leg or an arm. In part, I believe this is what led to the demise of a six-year relationship; as he believes he’s owed that money because he went blind at the age of twenty. I was raised to believe that the only thing guaranteed in life is breath, and even that’s not a given. Be thankful for what you have and count your lucky stars for it could be taken in an instant.
