Are Celebrities Above The Law?

In this ever changing world there’s not much that supersizes me anymore. Celebrities are always talking about how they never have a personal life, how what they say is being taken out of context and how they work 24/7 without any breaks. Ok, they work hard, however they play harder and expect no consequence to their actions or they are given a lighter sentence because of the status they hold in the entertainment world. Take for instance, Martha Stewart homemaker to the universe; gets the silver bracelets for committing security infractions, as well as obstructing justice. The punishment received was 90 days in a cell which she got to decorate as she chose and five months of house arrest. While someone off the street would get at the very least a year or two for the same crime. I ask you, is this just? True, we as commoners do not have the agony of people hounding us every day, so one need to ask the obvious question:  Are these actions the actions of children in adult bodies?

Secondly, Paris Hilton better known as a cutesy blonde Barbie doll has been caught on numerous occasions driving while under the influence of alcohol. An action that could have killed someone or severely damaged the heiress herself for all the things that could have happened; the judge was more than willing to lay down the law by handing down a forty-five day sentence. Of which, she would only serve 3 days because of her mental status. Yes, the state is in debt…but, they brought in a physiologist because they thought the sentence was too harsh. In order to appease the Princess they gave her license back, despite this not being her first time dealing with this offense. Live and live should be her motto. No, live and be reckless is what her actions say. If you want to be reckless, grab a limousine; after all, that’s the person your parents raised you to be. In some cases what your parents taught you, should be all you need to know. If a person chooses to have such a narrow view of the world, they must be under the “guide” of their parents who know the gravity of what their children face.

The best case in point is; Nick Bollea, son of former wrestling star Hulk Hogan was behind the wheel, and yes under the influence of alcohol; his Mazzeriti totaled; he walks without a scratch; his best friend John, clinging to life in the hospital. Who do the Bolleas’ blame for the accident…The only person who cannot defend himself. I feel  I’ve gotten my point across. I’m not going to broach the Lindsay Lohan situation, except to voice the opinion that she should no longer be a role model to anyone, she was late because of a pedicure.  Get your priorities straight.
