NYPD: True Blue?
65"You have the right to remain silent" taken to extremes
After the events of September 11th 2001, no one deserved more kudos than those who worked so effortlessly to assist in the recovery. As citizens we count on police officers to uphold a higher moral code as we trust them to save our lives when we are in danger. It’s quite a shock to hear any news to contrary; however, we are hearing more and more news of unjust behavior from the “justice” system. I have said before that there is too much stress on the individual to keep a job, some people must keep two or three to maintain financial stability for their families. One wonders under all this stress, why there is an increased number in career suicide particularly on the part of the NYPD?
The Associated Press has brought to light subjects of which I am sure one would prefer to keep quiet. When you are a police commissioner, one can’t help but ponder if the position shares political kinship with becoming President, as one can keep things under the rug until the media gets wind; then the whole house of cards comes tumbling down as well as the people in them. Today, the police commissioner’s son is being accused of sexually assaulting a woman and as a result of the sexual encounter has been impregnated. The “allegations” as the fragile justice system teaches us to call them as nothing has been proven beyond a shadow of a doubt. Timing couldn’t be worse for Commissioner Kelly as he is suspected of pulling the strings to involve the CIA in filming anti--Muslim footage which caused leaders to pull a breakfast protest late last year. Perhaps his department dodged a bullet before deciding to promote the elder Kelly.
The family isn’t commenting on any allegations facing Greg Kelly, a talk show host whom whether he is found guilty of whether or not might as well start standing in the unemployment line now. A family spokesman said the Commissioner will not “entertain” to do with the story. The Manhattan District attorneyoffice is expressing interest the claim as the woman whose name is not being released, reportedly went out for drinks with Greg Kelly and was not capable of contenting to sexual activity. The woman sought to have an abortion following the night out on the town. The DA’s office has declined to comment any further on the allegations or whether they plan to prosecute as well. The only one thrown in the crossfire is Mayor Michael Bloomberg who is facing questions about hoe the police is handling the matter, which puts his own political career in jeopardy if he doesn’t have all the answers the public will hunger. The only one not keeping his silence about the incident is the woman’s boyfriend: “ Your son ruined my girlfriend's life,'" Browne said. "The commissioner said in true political cover up fashion: 'Well, what do you mean?' A letter was sent between the commissioner and the boyfriend was not revealed as Browne did not wish to become a conflict of interest, the real question us what will happen if the DA decides to prosecute which means more trouble for the NYPD than one believes is realized currently.
Unfortunately, the sex scandal has not been the only time the NYPD has been caught under fire. Five of New York’s “finest” were caught in a gun smuggling sting reported on October 25, 2011 in which they were caught and charged in illegal possession of guns with serial numbers that were sawed off. As I said, the five officers were indited as well as three retired officers; sharing in their company is a correctional officer in New Jersey as well as three civilians.. It seems that they must have had quite a party. In addition to this gun smuggling, it is believed to be that four of the officers were also involved in the poaching of $500,000 in cigarettes. As if things weren’t troublesome enough, A Bronx prosector is bringing about charges in a ticket-fixing case which could bring down another dozen officers. Where is the justice when the people you are supposed to trust. are criminals themselves?
